At the
age of seven Bart would sing in the shower. His mother thought he sounded like Ricky Nelson so she bought him an inexpensive acoustic guitar that Christmas.
He couldn't hold the strings down so the guitar went into the attic. Bart
still liked music and learned to play clarinet, some saxophone, trumpet, baritone horn, a little piano and drums.
Nevertheless, when he turned thirteen, the guitar came back down out of the attic. He practiced with the records of The Ventures,
Chet Atkins, Lonnie Mack, Roy Clark and others. He got good enough to be asked to play lead guitar for a working band, but he had no equipment.
His parents and grandparents bought him an electric guitar and amplifier. Now he was on his way.
Bart played lead guitar with many local bands and quit school at the age of sixteen to go on tour with a Chicago band named "The Impacts".
After some touring and recording session work he got a call from his friend, Larry Byrom. Larry asked him to come to Hollywood in 1967
While in California, he worked with some well known bands and did more session work at Capitol and Liberty Records.
His abilities enabled him to play with or share the stage with the likes of Steppenwolf,
The Doors, Spirit, Ricky Nelson,
The Beach Boys, Vanilla Fudge, Sandler and Young, Steppen
Fetchit, David Romaine, Tom T. Hall, Tracy Byrd and Dan Seals.
He was scheduled to play Woodstock in 1969, but was drafted for the Viet Nam War, so he went away to the Army instead. After spending twenty years in
the Army and later, Navy he retired. Since then he has performed with Jason Pitts of Jason and The Pitt Crew, Rural Route 2
and American Pie featuring Callahan Dylan.
Today he performs as part of the duo "Money & Fame" and enjoys spending more time at home with his family and friends.
